Halfwit Attempts to Stop Rolling Infiniti by…Stomping the Gas Pedal

As if exiting a car while it's still rolling without securing it in some way, be that by turning off the engine and placing it out of drive/gear while using the handbrake as well, isn't a daft move in itself, trying to stop it by pressing the gas pedal takes you to a whole new league of foolhardiness, now, doesn't it…

Possibly filmed in Russia, though, we can’t be entirely sure as there is no description on YouTube, the man behind the wheel obviously mixed the pedals when he jumped into the Infiniti FX to attempt to bring it to a halt before it hit the adjacent parked vehicle.

The result can be seen in the following dash-cam video.

Chilling Junior WRC Fiesta Crash will Bring NSFW Words Out of You

This video footage from a crash that occurred during the Sigdalsrally in Norway this past weekend is a testament to the safety provided by modern day racing cars. Nonetheless, it has the ingredients to scare the bejesus out of the most professional of drivers…

Junior-WRC pilot Marius Aasen and co-driver Marlene Engan were speeding through the snow during the rally when they hit a bump at "approximately 150km/h" (93mph), which sent their racing Ford Fiesta into a crazy roll over (we counted at least four complete turns in the video) before it landed upside down in a frozen river.

As scary as it looks, the car kept the two young men safe and sound, and they were able to get out and reach the river bank virtually unharmed.

"Here is a video from our really bad crash in Sigdalsrally this weekend!," wrote Aasen on his Facebook page. "Unfortunately, there is nothing left of the car, but I'm glad the safety in the car is good, and we both are ok"

Now the team is looking to get their vehicle back to racing form. "There is not much left of the car, and this is how it looks like at the moment," said Aasen. "We are working hard to get back into a rallycar."

Elephant Violently Attacks VW Polo at Safari Park, Pays With its Life…

You really need to dig deep inside to try and pick who was at fault in the recently reported case of a pissed off elephant violently attacking a car in a South African safari park last month.

More specifically, a British schoolteacher and her fiancé were driving through the Kruger National park, when they stumbled across an elephant strolling along the unpaved road, and by doing so they very quickly angered the giant tusked mammal which turned around and in mere seconds turned the blue old-gen VW Polo into scrap.

One of his tusks apparently also wounded the male occupant. However, both were lucky, as the elephant concentrated on destroying the rear part of the hatchback, which even trampled while in rage-mode.

The animal was later tracked down and killed, with park rangers explaining that the male specimen was looking to reproduce and therefore its testosterone levels were high (around 60 times higher than normal), hence the violent behavior – it was deemed too dangerous to leave on the loose with all those tourists driving by and taking photos…

So, who was at fault here? The tourists, the rangers, the elephant, all or none? In parts of the world where people more peacefully coexist with the elephants (especially of the Indian variety), they usually put the animals in chains when they get the feeling and just wait until they calm down - it's not necessarily humane, but it beats a bullet to the head.

Oh, My! Two Large Metro Cranes Collapse in Venezuela

Industrial cranes on large-scale production sites are an impressive sight to behold - just as long as everything goes as planned, because if something does happen and you're nearby, then you should get ready to make the fastest run possible.

The following incident occurred in the popular Las Mercedes district in Caracas, Venezuela, when two huge cranes working on the new Metro station in the area collapsed.

There's no word if anyone was injured in the accident, but one of the cranes did crash into a neighboring building shaving it clean while the other one dipped into the hole.

If you're in a hurry, the crash happens at around 50 seconds into the video.

Watch Terrifying Footage of Plane Crash from the Inside

The fear of an airplane crash is instilled within many people, even though flying is actually the safest mode of transportation available today – the chances of being involved in an airplane accident is 1 in 1.2 million, while the odds that you'll be killed in one is 1 in 11 million compared to 1 in 5,000 for cars.

Nevertheless, it does happen, and while we usually only get footage from the outside, one passenger who was involved in a dramatic plane crash that killed one woman in Hawaii last month, kept his cool and recorded the incident.

In fact, watching the video shot by Ferdinand Puentes, 39, who was aboard the 2002 Cessna Grand Caravan when it crashed into the water off the coast of Hawaii on December 11, shows that all passengers remained remarkably calm, considering the circumstances.

"There wasn't panic or anything. It was very orderly. It wasn't like any of the movies or the TV shows," passenger C. Phillip Hollstein Jr. told the Associated Press.

Fuentes even managed to get some footage while out in the water.

"The water was rough. The pilot was trying to get everybody together but it was kind of impossible because of the waves," Rosa Key, another passenger, told KITV, according to ABC News, which obtained the footage you see below.

The passengers credited the pilot Clyde Kawasaki, for managing to keep his head and land the plane on its right side up, which allowed them to get out and save their lives.

"The way how he handled the flight and everything, he kept his calm, it's just amazing how he did it," Puentes said. "He is my hero."

We're Pretty Sure This Isn't a Drive-Thru Drugstore…

A 71-year old woman who somehow lost control of her vehicle came crashing into the entrance of a Rite-Aid drugstore in New Jersey on Wednesday, and it was all captured on film through a security camera.

Miraculously, even though the Chevrolet Aveo hatch actually hit an unsuspecting 18-year old customer as it plowed the store front, no one was injured.

Sgt. Sean Farrell told local news station NorthJersey that no summons was issued for the accident and the matter remains under investigation, for now.

According to a casher, this is the…third time in two years that a driver has accidentally crashed on the front of the building at 208 Park Ave. In the previous incidents, only the building suffered damages.

Russian Driving Mayhem: The Grandmother Edition

Here's a video compilation of incidents starring elderly female pedestrians from Russia, with all of them purportedly having taken place during 2013.

Russian roads aren't easy…or forgiving for pedestrians in general, and it’s even more challenging for people in their third age.

However, we will admit that, it’s not always the drivers' fault, as some recorded incidents show, like when a grandmother tried to cross a busy highway at night dressed in black (not that it matters what she was wearing given the circumstances…).

The video awaits you after the virtual break.

Ferrari FF Hits Ford C-MAX Taxi Then Fence in Boston

Regardless of where the blame lies – be that the freezing conditions in Massachusetts, the driver of the Ferrari and/or the other car reportedly involved in the accident with the gunmetal FF seen in the above photo, a crashed Ferrari is never a pretty sight.

Here's all that we know about the incident at this time, courtesy of Wreckedexotics: "Ferrari FF collided with a Ford C-Max taxi last night in Boston. Witnesses say the Ferrari was making a lot of noise shortly before the crash."

You never know, but given how expensive it is to fix luxury cars in general, let alone special Italian exotics, and looking at the damages the supercar sustained, we would say that this Ferrari FF is either toast or an insurance write off.

- Do you have more information on the crash? Send us an email or tell us in the comments and we'll update this post.

There May be a Video of Schumacher’s Skiing Accident – Prosecutor Looking to Obtain It

As Michael Schumacher, who just turned 45, continues to lie in the coma induced to protect his brain cells from degrading, an entire press phenomenon has been created around his unfortunate skiing accident.

After we heard of a member of the press dressing up as a…priest to try and gain access to the F1 champ’s room, another twist in the story has been added: allegedly, there’s a mobile phone video of the very moment he crashed, and now the French prosecutors working to find out what happened are determined to get their hands on it.

German publication Der Spiegel says it was contacted on Sunday by a man who claimed to be in possession of said footage; he apparently caught Schumi’s fall as he was filming his girlfriend come down the slope, in the resort of Meribel, in the French Alps.

Meanwhile, for the fans waiting outside of the hospital where he is currently being held, there is no additional news. He is still stable yet in critical condition, as it’s been put by most of the press, quoting the doctors. However, that’s basically the doctors being evasive and doesn’t really mean anything. So far, he’s been operated on twice to remove blood clots from his brain.

The doctors have decreed, though, that they will speak again via an organized press conference when they have notable developments to report – hopefully, they will be of the good kind.

Footage of Airplane Crashing on Dragstrip Just Before a Race Begins

Authorities from Iceland have released dramatic footage of an incident that occurred on August 5, 2013, when a small Beechcraft King Air plane crashed at the end of a dragstrip before a qualifying race was about to begin.

Three people were aboard the ambulance airplane when it smashed into the ground, including the captain and a paramedic who were both instantly killed, and the co-pilot, who (amazingly) survived with injuries.

According to an internal investigation, there was nothing wrong with the airplane, but local news station MBL reported that the final report has yet to be released as authorities are still looking into the cause(s) of the accident.

Cop Steps Out to Stop Speeding Motorcyclists, Causes a Crash

We're not saying that police officers shouldn't enforce the law especially when motorists and motorcyclists place themselves and others in danger, but popping out of the bushes and stepping onto the road to surprise and stop a biker isn't exactly the safest or most sensible of practices….

This incident, which reportedly occurred in Britain, was captured on film by several cameras, including from a police officer and the two motorcycles involved in the crash that happened after the cop tried to stop the first one for speeding.

The problem was that the biker coming from behind was caught by surprise (partially due to the low visibility caused by the fog and the fact that he was going faster than what the conditions allowed), and as a result, crashed into the first motorcyclist.

Video follows below.

Brash and Impatient BMW Driver Meets Up with Karma

In a refreshing break from all those daily Russian dash-cam videos, this recorded incident comes to us from the city of Lemgo in Germany, where a (Bangle-butt) BMW 5-Series driver was in a hurry to get through an intersection that was blocked by an Opel Zafira MPV and Corsa hatchback.

Now, truth to be said, the Zafira driver may have been partially at fault here if he saw that he couldn't make it through due to traffic, while in the first video towards the end (at the 44 second mark), it does look like he flipped the impatient BMW driver.

Still, that doesn't excuse the 5-Series motorist's actions to get out of his car and open the passenger door of the Zafira.

What happens next is something we'll leave you to find out by watching the second video below the break.

Police Report Says Porsche That Killed Walker Was Going Over 100MPH

The Los Angeles County Coroner's final report on the accident that lead to the death of Fast & Furious star Paul Walker and his friend Roger Rodas on November 30, confirmed what many were suspecting; that speed played a role in the crash.

According to the 15-page report released on Friday, the Porsche Carrera GT driven by Rodas with Walker sitting on the passenger side was traveling at "approximately 100+ mph [160+ km/h]" just before the crash.

"For unknown reasons, the driver lost control of the vehicle, and the vehicle partially spun around, and began to travel in a southeast direction," the coroner's report said, according to CNN and other news stations that obtained a copy of it.

"The vehicle then struck a sidewalk and the driver's side of the vehicle struck a tree and then a light post. The force of those collisions caused the vehicle to spin 180 degrees, and it continued to travel in an easterly direction. The passenger side of the vehicle then struck a tree and the vehicle burst into flames," the coroner's office wrote.

The autopsy said that neither Rodas nor Walker seemed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident, adding that Rodas "rapidly died of severe blunt head, neck and chest trauma," and that Walker's life ended before the smoke and fire engulfed the vehicle.

BASE Jumping on Bolivia's Death Road on Friday the 13th; What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

Using a bicycle to complete a B.A.S.E. (according to Wiki, it's an acronym that "stands for four categories of fixed objects from which one can jump: building, antenna, span, and Earth") jump off a man-built ramp situated near a cliff sounds like an awesome idea in theory, but not so much in reality…

Add to the mix the location known as Bolivia's Death Road, the date Friday the 13th, and the inherit risk of a miscalculation, and you have the perfect storm brewing.

All those ingredients were present during a BASE jump performed by a member of the 'Viteza si Adrenalina' team, who described the act as a "fairly stupid idea gone mildly wrong", adding the following quote:

"Unfortunately the jump didn't go quite as well as planned as you will see in the video, however I am pleased to report that owing to all the advance rescue and medical support preparations GravityBolivia were able to extract the "crasher" quickly and he suffered only minor injuries, specifically as he puts it: "a broken arse, fractures in his forearm, and cut tendons in his knee".

Video can be found below the…jump.

Anyone Know About This 2014 Corvette Stingray C7 Crash?

A set of photos showing a fairly new 2014 Corvette Stingray having suffered a serious blow to its chin surfaced over at WreckedExotics, with the note that the red C7 was spotted at a local dealership in Milwaukee Wisconsin.

From the damage seen in the images of the car that appear to have been shot just after it was unloaded from the truck, it looks like the driver hit an obstacle positioned low on the ground with the front end.

Whether snow or bad weather conditions in general had something to do with the incident, remain unknown. If any of you are aware of more details, do tell us in the comments or via email and we'll post an update.

Heartbreaking Story of Small Pup Refusing to Leave His Dead Friend on Chinese Road

A word of caution: some readers may find the images in the following video disturbing

You don't need a scientist or a research paper to tell you that canines have emotions just like humans; just take a look at this footage shot on a road in the Chinese city of Yinchuan on December 22.

The white dog had been struck by an oncoming vehicle and was lying dead on the road, but his small canine friend refused to leave his side. Chinese media reported that the light brown dog stayed next to his friend throughout the night, despite freezing temperatures of around -13 degrees Celsius or 8 Fahrenheit.

Local citizens placed a small stool next to the dogs to warn other drivers before they decided to step in to take the dead pup and burry it in a nearby park.

Michael Schumacher in a Coma Fighting for His Life after Skiing Accident

Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher is fighting for his life after suffering a severe head injury in a skiing accident in the French Alps on Sunday. The German underwent brain surgery and remains in critical condition, with the doctors refusing to comment on his prognosis.

The former Ferrari and Mercedes driver was skiing with his 14-year-old son and others in an off-piste area between two marked runs above Méribel when he fell on Sunday morning and banged his head against a rock.

Despite the fact that he was wearing a helmet, the shock was powerful and by the time he arrived in hospital in Moutiers he went into an induced coma. After being stabilized, he was moved to a larger hospital in Grenoble, where he underwent brain surgery.

Professor Jean-Francois Payen told reporters that if Schumacher had not been wearing a protective helmet “he wouldn’t be here now.” Doctors explained they had to operate him urgently to release some pressure in his head. “We cannot tell you what the outcome will be yet,” the doctors told reporters on Monday morning. “All we can do is wait,” they added. According to neurosurgeon Stephan Chabardes, a post-operative scan had shown “diffuse haemorrhagic legions” on both sides of Schumacher’s brain.

The seven-time Formula 1 champion is kept in a coma at low temperature to facilitate his recovery. Schumacher’s spokeswoman said in a statement: “We ask for understanding that we cannot give out continuous information about his health. He was wearing a helmet and was not alone. No one else was involved in the fall.”

Schumacher retired from Formula 1 racing in 2012 and this year has become a brand ambassador for Mercedes-Benz and its “Intelligent Drive” safety and comfort systems.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Formula 1 legend and his family during these very difficult times.

This is What Happens When You Over Inflate a Huge Truck Tire

If you're filling up a tire with air, common sense says you should always keep at least one eye on the pressure gauge. Overdo it, and you could end up being blasted in the face and thrown up into the air like a rag doll.

This applies to all types of tires, but understandably, the bigger the wheel, the stronger the explosion if you go over the limit.

The guy in this video, possibly filmed at a Russian garage, had one foot on the truck tire when it burst out like a bomb shooting the man several feet in the air. The poster of the security camera footage says the man sustained a couple of bruises and torn ligaments in his knee.

The funny thing (well, not really, but you get what we mean) is that, if you watch the video, one of the other men in the garage approached him and pointed towards the tire, likely warning him about the pressure. Guess he had to find out the blasting way…

Thanks to Jalopnik for the heads up!

What a Ditch! There Goes Another New Corvette Stingray C7…

Things have been strangely quiet on the 2014 Corvette Stingray C7-accident front since the last occurrence that we came to know about during the Texas State Fair in the middle of October, but now, we have another incident that surfaced online.

The forum member who shared the picture on the Reddit site wrote: "My friend crashed his Corvette. He sent me this. At least he's okay."

You never know with Reddit, but if the original poster is sincere about the car being owned by one of his buddies, then let's just say he's being uncool in a cruelly (albeit humorous) way with his friend's misfortune. But at least he didn't name him, so we guess that counts for something…

If you know more about the crash, please do tell in the comments or via email.

Watch Two Inattentive Russian Drivers Get Themselves in a Mess

No matter how many times you view the two following incidents recorded on dash-cams in Russia, you won't be able to justify the actions of the two drivers, who simply put, weren't paying any attention on the road and ended up crashing their rides.

In the first clip, a distracted young lady in a pre-facelift Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe veered to the right side of the road and smashed her car into...a pole, fortunately, without sustaining any injuries.

The Honda driver in the second video suffered from the same state of mind, but his inattentiveness also caused damage to another car waiting in traffic.

See both incidents in the videos below.
